wonder if i can sneak a video cam into Chastain ? an amazing outdoor venue BTW, where i saw sting / vinnie. since there was "0" security & maximum boozing going on, i just wandered up to the front & checked out VC redefine sting & police tunes.

Sounds like a good show since it will be in a venue other than an arena. I saw the first tour w/Stevie Ray Vaughn alternating headlining. I saw them at the Worcester Centrum which is a concert arena and had bad seats. I was at the height of my Bozzio phase so I was kind of disappointed not because of the music but because of sound; I could'nt hear anything. I do remember them playing a great version of Jan Hammer's "Blue Wind".
Also, for the whole night this couple behind me were complaining out loud: "Where's the singer?", "How come there's no singer?", "The other band had a singer, why not these guys?".

[bells last statement]: uughhh... [that's some common-place ugliness/ignorance]
U R lucky U saw them w/ SRV... i remember i was gonna go to that show... that had to be back in the late '80's sometime... but i couldnt get outta work at the time ... & needless to say, that particular job is ANCIENT history & now a distant, faded, unimportant, insignificant, & mundane memory ...
They were also just here in town recently, but i had a gig [ again - repeat 'performance'] ... not complaining, but it still bites....

yeah no_bells, i believe i saw the same tour -- SRV with Jeff (in Miami at the time). i am thinking it was either '89 or '90, about 3 months before SRV died.
the amazing thing was SRV went on 1st then JB...i though everyone (hardcore SRV guys) would beat feet, but to my amazement, all 30K stuck around. imagine the entire place completely GETTING_OFF on JB's beautiful melodies & thematic nuttiness. it was surreal. i was pretty close to the right of the stage too, i had a great view of Bozzio.
Fuse -- yeah i hate the gig / conflict thing that never fails to piss me off...for some reason, i am saved - gig on friday, but none on sat. luckily (2) shows here in the ATL.

Geoff-Yeah that's the tour. Sounds like you had a good time. Everyone stuck around for Beck too, I guess I was in the wrong seats. Who knew a little after the tour that Bozzio would completely re-invent himself and a function of the instrument that had'nt been touched upon since Max Roach. I guess at that time he was already doing the ostinatos, but not putting the pentatonic melodies over them yet. Gnarly stuff.
I recently saw an old video of Beck, Bozzio, and Hyman on Arsenio Hall. Imagine those guys on national tv.
